53 medicines including Paracetamol have been found to have failed the quality test. Antibiotics are also included in addition to vitamins, sugar and blood pressure medications. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), the country’s largest drug regulatory body, has released its list.
CDSCO’s list includes paracetamol calcium and vitamin D3 supplements, anti-diabetic pills and high blood pressure medicines. The list of banned drugs also includes clonazepam tablets used for seizures and anxiety, pain killer diclofenac, ambroxol used for respiratory diseases, anti-fungal fluconazole and some multi-vitamin and calcium tablets.
These drugs are manufactured by big companies like Hetero Drugs, Alkem Laboratories, Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL), Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited.
failed the test
CDSCO released a list of 48 drugs including metronidazole, a stomach infection drug manufactured by Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd, which also failed the test. Similarly, Torrent Pharmaceuticals’ Shellac tablet also failed the test.
CDSCO tested the quality of 53 drugs, but released the list of only 48 drugs. Because 5 out of 53 drug companies said that these are not their drugs, rather fake drugs are being sold in the market in their name. After this he was removed from the list.
