Parth Chatterjee, a big leader in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, has been arrested by the ED in connection with the education recruitment scam. Due to which there has been a political earthquake in Bengal.
The ED has arrested Partha Chatterjee, Minister of Industries and Commerce in the Mamata Banerjee-led government in the West Bengal education recruitment scam after 24 hours of questioning. Magistrate Neelam Shashi Kujur heard the case in Kolkata’s Bankshall Court. Minister Parth was not produced before the Magistrate. The Magistrate said that since this is a special case, it does not come under the jurisdiction of this court. The court then sent Parth to ED custody for two days. Now Parth Chatterjee will be produced in the special court at 10.30 am on Monday.
ED also raided the house of alleged Arpita Mukherjee near Parth Chatterjee. From where the ED has recovered Rs 20 crore cash, 20 phones, foreign currency, gold and silver and land documents. Which is being investigated by ED. Arpita Mukherjee has also been detained by the ED. Apart from Arpita, ED raided 13 places including Manik Bhattacharya, Alok Kumar Sarkar, Kalyan Moy Ganguly. All these have come to light for their connection in the education recruitment scam for which this action has been taken. As soon as this scam came out, BJP got an opportunity to attack TMC.
However, TMC is now on the backfoot on the Arpita Mukherjee issue and has given a statement that TMC has nothing to do with this scam. However, who’s claim has much weight and what is the truth will be revealed in the investigation of ED.
