After Corona, another deadly disease is wreaking havoc in India. Due to which the death toll is doubling day by day. What is this disease? Which has caused a ruckus. Is it really that dangerous? Why has this disease increased the government’s concern?

Years ago the biographer of the great American General Douglas MacArthur wrote about a strange and unknown disease that had spread in New Guinea during the First World War, consuming large numbers of American soldiers. The soldiers were suffering from high fever which did not subside for several weeks. Every fever medicine failed and the patient died within a month. At one point the situation became such that the number of people who died from disease far exceeded those who died on the battlefield. The same disease has come to India once again.. the name is.. scrub typhus..

People have been suffering from this serious infection called scrub typhus for many years, but in recent times there has been a sudden outbreak in Himachal and Odisha.

Increasing outbreaks of scrub typhus
So far 973 cases have been reported in Himachal Pradesh
10 patients died in Himachal Pradesh
5 patients died in Odisha

Now there will be many questions in your mind that scrub typhus? How does this happen? If so, what will happen to the patient? How dangerous can you choose? What is the cure?

First, what is scrub typhus?

Scrub typhus is a type of bacterial infection
Orientia is spread by a bacteria called tsutsugamushi
This insect is found on grass, bushes, mice, rabbits
The number of this pest increases due to moisture after rain

In addition to insect bites, these bacteria can also spread to the human body through contact with insect feces. Also, if you scratch or scratch the area where the lice or bug has bitten, the bacteria that come into contact with the skin can enter your bloodstream. Bacteria can also enter the body through unscreened blood transfusions or the use of infected needles.

Now let’s know the symptoms of this dangerous scrub typhus

The disease becomes severe within 10 days of the insect bite
Scrub typhus has dengue-like symptoms
Chills with headache, body rash, fever
Sore or itching at the site of the insect bite

A dark scab-like lesion forms on the part of the body where the chigger bites. Also, red spots or rashes occur on the body. Symptoms begin to appear within a week of infection. If this disease is not treated early, it can spread to many parts of the body. Due to which there is a risk of death. If any of these symptoms appear then it should not be ignored and a doctor should be consulted immediately. However, in any case, if the fever persists for more than four days, it is necessary to consult a doctor immediately. Diseases like scrub typhus cross the danger mark as people mistake it for normal fever and try to treat it with crocin or paracetamol.

The question is what is the diagnosis of this deadly disease? Like many other bacterial diseases, scrub typhus can be diagnosed in the laboratory by serology and PCR tests. No vaccine exists for this disease, although antibiotic treatment with doxycycline is usually recommended to fight the infection. Delay in treatment is dangerous for patients with this disease as it can lead to organ failure and more fatal consequences.

Diagnosis and treatment of scrub typhus
Diagnosis by serology, PCR test in laboratory
There is no vaccine available for scrub typhus
Antibiotic treatment is recommended
Delay in treatment is extremely dangerous for patients

The solution is to avoid going to forest and green areas without wearing long clothes during monsoons.. If any insect bite then immediately wash the area with rice water. There is no vaccine for scrub typhus and the disease can spread from person to person, so caution is the only cure.
