The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its coalition, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), have won the most seats and are victorious in the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.
The NDA secured 294 out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, with the BJP winning 240 seats in the election. Now as we look forward, it is important to analyse the promises made by the party.
Modi’s Promises
The government’s health insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat, is said to receive a significant boost as
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday assured that the ‘Modi ki guarantee’ for major decisions will be fulfilled in the third term,
Addressing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at the party headquarters in the evening, Modi also expressed confidence in the NDA’s success and outlined his vision for the future
in the meeting.
One Law for All:
The BJP has promised to create a single set of civil laws for everyone in India, replacing the different laws that various religions currently follow.
Many Muslims worry this change may affect their traditional practices. People in India follow different rules for things like marriage, divorce, and inheritance based on their religion. The new code would make these rules the same for everyone. The BJ P says this change is needed for fairness, equality, and national unity.
India’s Economy:
The BJP wants to make India the third-largest economy in the world, up from fifth. They promise to grow the economy quickly,
keep prices low, and control government spending. They also aim to promote more manufacturing and create more jobs but no details have been shared on how they intend to implement it.
One Nation One Election:
Modi’s party wants to hold elections for both India’s state assemblies and national parliament at the same time, every five years.
Right now, these elections can happen at different times, which means there’s often an election happening somewhere in the country.
A government group suggested that having all the elections together would improve things and help the country grow.
However, Modi’s critics say this idea goes against Indian states having power in their hand, which is guaranteed in the country’s constitution.
