ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2024 Event by the International Cricket Council is just around the corner with the warm-up matches already underway. This event is held roughly every 2 years. The event starts with the first contest between the co-hosts USA and Canada on June 1st in Dallas’s Grand Prairie Stadium. The USA and Canada are both making their maiden appearances in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2024, with the USA qualifying as the World Cup hosts and Canada qualifying from the Americas qualifier. There are a total of 20 teams participating.

The Favorites to Win-

The three biggest cricket teams, Australia, England and India, which also should be clear favourites, secured their spots in this World Cup by finishing in the top eight of the previous ICC Twenty20 World Cup in 2022. India was placed in Group A along with their arch-rivals Pakistan and England and Australia, is placed together in Group B. Several of the players from each of these teams participated in the IPL showcasing their forms and talent to be selected for the World Cup. Players like Jos Butler, Virat Kohli and Pat Cummins.

Strength of the teams-

According to multiple cricket experts and retired cricketers, including England skipper Eoin Morgan, says India is the favourite to win because of their strength.

And overall balance. According to the current ICC T20 rankings, Australia is the No.1 T20 team with 124 points and India and England to follow. In the Indian squad there, there are two wicket, keeper batsmen, including the people’s favourites Virat Kohli, who seemed in good shape in the IPL, finishing with the Orange Cap. In the Australian Squad, there are players such as Glen Maxwell and Mitchell Stark, who are led by their Captain Mitchell Marsh. In the English squad, which is led by Jos Butler, there are players like Joffre Archer, Mark Wood and Jonny Bairstow.

Surprising miscounts-

The last date of announcing the teams for the 20 World Cup was May 1st, which means team selectors had to select players mid-IPL. As per the rules of the ICC, every team playing in the tournament has to bring a 15-member squad to play this tournament. This led to some surprising star players not being selected.

Steven Smith was not selected in the Australian Squad, Joe Root was also overlooked by the England Team Selectors, including Chris Wakes. In the Indian team, the Opening Batsmen Ishan Kishan missed out, including Ruturaj Gaiwkad, which led to a spite controversy since an IPL team captain wasn’t selected.

Biggest Clash

There will be more than a few exciting contests in this World Cup, including the likes of the Ind vs Pak, Aus vs Eng, Ind Vs Aus. These contests are usually the ones to watch out for because of their fandom and the strength of the teams. The most anticipated match is Of course India vs Pakistan because of the history these teams have while competing in ICC events. Although India are clear favourites, Pakistan is not a team you could easily overthrow. The match will be in the Nassau County International Cricket at In New York on 9th of June Sunday, Mark Your Calendrers!!!.
