Madhavi Raje Scindia, the matriarch of the Gwalior royal family and mother of Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, passed away on Wednesday morning at AIIMS Delhi after battling pneumonia and sepsis for the past three months. She breathed her last at 9:28 am, having been on a ventilator in her final days.

Her condition deteriorated over the past two weeks, leading to her demise this morning. Madhavi Raje Scindia, wife of the late Madhavrao Scindia, was an integral part of Indian politics and society. She played a pivotal role in social and cultural activities in Gwalior, championing causes close to her heart.
Following the tragic death of Madhavrao Scindia in a plane crash in 2001, Madhavi Raje continued his legacy of service. She spearheaded initiatives such as the Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia II gallery and served as the head of the board of governors of Scindias Kanya Vidyalaya, dedicated to girls’ education.
