The Indian government has once again launched a social media strike against Pakistan. The central government has ordered immediate closure of accounts spreading anti-India news through YouTube and websites.
The Government of India has ordered the closure of 35 YouTube channels and 2 websites. The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed to block 35 YouTube channels, two websites, two Twitter accounts, two Instagram accounts and one Facebook account. The ministry said that what all these accounts had in common was that they were operated from Pakistan and spread fake anti-India news and other content. This information was received by the ministry on January 20 through inputs from the intelligence department.
Vikram Sahay, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said it was like an information war spreading propaganda against India. It is being continuously monitored by intelligence agencies. On the other hand, earlier on January 19, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur had said that the government will continue to take action against those who conspire against the country. He said that I have ordered action against him. I am happy that many major countries of the world have taken cognizance of this.
YouTube also stepped forward and took action to block them. Let us tell you that earlier in the year 2020, the central government had blocked 20 YouTube channels and two websites running propaganda against India.
