The charges against Maurya include running fake Ponzi-like schemes, circulating counterfeit Indian currency notes, engaging in fraudulent insurance schemes, and a string of other criminal cases. The arrest disrupted Maurya’s plans for an overseas New Year celebration with his wife, highlighting the abrupt halt to his lavish lifestyle.

Initially working on false Plaster of Paris ceilings in Mumbai, Maurya’s life took a criminal turn when job opportunities dwindled. The first registered case against him involved theft and trespassing in Gonda in 2016, marking the onset of a spree of criminal activities.
