Why burnt gold Lanka, emergency declared in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is currently going through the worst economic crisis since independence. The situation has worsened, due to which President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared a state of emergency in the country. His order said the decision has been taken for security and supply of essential services. Emergency has been imposed in Sri Lanka since April 1.

Lanka of gold is burning. There is a fire of indignation among the people. The situation is dire due to economic crisis and people are protesting against the government on the streets.

A fire of outrage against the most powerful man in the country. Violent demonstrations and arson outside President Rajapaksa’s residence with a crowd of over 5,000 demanding his resignation. This is Lanka, which is considered the city of gold. Due to uncontrollable inflation and scarcity of goods, the condition of people has become dire. Sri Lanka is facing dire economic crisis. The demonstration turned violent after police intervention.

The Rajapakse family has ruled Sri Lanka for decades at the pinnacle of power and it is this family that has ruined the country. Autocratic rule has devastated the economy.

Prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing. The country is under the burden of debt. There is shortage of fuel and gas in the country. People are queuing up for hours for petrol diesel. Transport has come to a standstill. There is blackout in the country due to lack of electricity. Epidemics devastated the economy. Police and army have to be deployed to control the situation in Colombo. This is the biggest crisis since independence.
