A huge Microsoft outage caused chaos worldwide, stopping flights and disrupting banks, stock exchanges, payment systems, and emergency services.
One of the biggest IT crashes happened early on Friday, affecting almost all sectors, including finance , stock market, banks, and NBFCs, public transport, aviation, companies, media broadcasting, and hospitality.

Late on Friday, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella said that CrowdStrike released an update that started affecting IT systems worldwide on July 18.

Reason for the Outage:

It is not a security incident or a cyberattack. A defect was found in a content update for the Windows Hosts System. The issue impacted computers running the Windows operating system and CrowdStrike software.” Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.” says CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz. Separately, Microsoft said on Friday that its cloud services were restored after an outage, although many users still reported problems. CrowdStrike’s shares closed down 11%.

India’s IT Ministry:

The central government in India noticed the outage and said it is talking with Microsoft to fix the problem. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology might release advice about the outage. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the IT ministry is in touch with Microsoft regarding the global outage.
