Rs.50,000 assistance per person through DBT has been deposited in accounts of around 22,000 people who died due to covid and covid positive in Gujarat as per Supreme Court order: Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi

The state government is determined to provide assistance to those who die of a heart attack or any other reason within 30 days after the covid test is positive, treating it as a covid death.

According to the change in the definition of covid death by the famous Supreme Court, the people who die of heart attack or any other reason within 30 days after becoming covid and covid positive in Gujarat are also considered as covid deaths so that the state government has decided to provide assistance to such people as well. According to the order of the Supreme Court, the Gujarat government has first deposited Rs.50,000 assistance per person through DBT in the accounts of 22,000 people as compared to other states, said Revenue Minister Rajendrabhai Trivedi while giving details to the media at Gandhinagar.

The Minister said that according to the new definition of death caused by Covid by the Supreme Court, the Gujarat government has taken the initiative of verifying the total of 38,000 applications and has paid assistance to 22,000 people. Earlier, 10,093 applications were received as per the definition of death due to Covid by the Gujarat government, but now this number has increased as the definition of death due to Covid has been expanded by the famous Supreme Court. The state government is committed to provide assistance of Rs.50,000 as per the prescribed criteria to the heirs who die of heart attack or any other reason within 30 days after the Covid test is positive. Forms for this assistance are available at all hospitals and collector offices. The minister added that this form can be filled online or offline as well.

Corona cases are on the rise again in the state. Corona is slowly raising its head again. in which 63 new cases of Corona have been reported in the last 24 hours while 3 patients have died. Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Valsad patients have died of Corona. 13 cases have been reported in Ahmedabad, while 12 cases have been reported in Vadodara, 11 in Jamnagar, 11 in Surat, 3 each in Kutch-Navsari-Valsad. While 1 case each has been reported in Anand, Banaskantha and Gandhinagar.

If we talk about the last two days, on Thursday also 70 cases of corona were reported in the state. out of which 13 cases were reported in Ahmedabad, 10 in Jamnagar, 9 in Surat, 12 in Vadodara. while 5 cases each in Navsari, Valsad, 4 cases in Anand, 4 cases in Rajkot, 3 cases were reported in Kutch and 2 each in Bhavnagar Gandhinagar.

In this regard, 67 cases were reported in the state on Wednesday. Among which maximum 25 cases were reported in Ahmedabad while 15 cases were reported in Surat, 7 cases in Jamnagar, 8 cases in Vadodara.
