Heavy to very heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm is forecast for parts of these districts. Similar warnings extend to other areas, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall in specified districts.

The Chennai Regional Meteorology Director reported that ‘Michaung’ is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm and move northwest, laying near Chennai and Puducherry on Monday. The cyclone is projected to cross Nellore-Machilipatnam by Tuesday afternoon, bringing continued heavy rainfall and strong winds to Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Thiruvallur districts.

The Tamil Nadu government has taken preventive measures, declaring the closure of educational institutions in Chennai on Tuesday.
