Welcome of the President:

Kim Jong Un greeted Russia’s President with a handshake and seemed to have had a few words with him near his plane. After this they traveled together in a limousine to a State Guest House.

Putin arrived early in the morning for his first visit to North Korea’s capital in 24 years.
This visit has the potential to change the relationship between Russia and North Korea, as both countries currently experience isolation on the international stage. The two leaders promised to work together against the United States and strengthen their relationship, which might involve more weapons trading.

Agreements and Promises:

President Putin is the first important leader to visit North Korea since the pandemic, showing how important it is to Russia. North Korea is one of the few countries that share similar views and are capable of supplying Moscow with much-needed weapons for its conflict in Ukraine.

Military and Technical Cooperation:

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a new agreement during a summit on Wednesday. They promised to support each other if either country was attacked. This partnership covers areas like security, trade, investment, culture, and humanitarian efforts. It could be the closest relationship between Moscow and Pyongyang since the Soviet Union ended in 1991. Both leaders see it as a significant improvement in their ties.

The Kremlin’s website mentioned that the agreement also covered cooperation in healthcare, medical education, and science. Putin stated that North Korea has the right to defend itself and that Russia might also help them in military and technical cooperation with North Korea under the newly signed document.

Tribute to Soldiers:

Putin also placed a garland at a monument honoring Soviet soldiers who died while liberating the Koreans from Japanese control.
This visit marks Putin’s first trip to North Korea in over twenty years, and after this, he will travel to Vietnam.
