According to the order of the Supreme Court, the Gujarat government has first deposited Rs.50,000 assistance per person through DBT in the accounts of 22,000 people as compared to other states, said Revenue Minister Rajendrabhai Trivedi while giving details to the media at Gandhinagar.

The Minister said that according to the new definition of death caused by Covid by the Supreme Court, the Gujarat government has taken the initiative of verifying the total of 38,000 applications and has paid assistance to 22,000 people. Earlier, 10,093 applications were received as per the definition of death due to Covid by the Gujarat government, but now this number has increased as the definition of death due to Covid has been expanded by the famous Supreme Court. The state government is committed to provide assistance of Rs.50,000 as per the prescribed criteria to the heirs who die of heart attack or any other reason within 30 days after the Covid test is positive. Forms for this assistance are available at all hospitals and collector offices. The minister added that this form can be filled online or offline as well.
