The India-UK FTA negotiations, initiated in 2022, reached their 12th round of talks, conducted from August 8th to 31st of the current year. The extended duration of negotiations underscores the complexity of the discussions, as both nations navigate diverse economic landscapes and strive to find common ground for a mutually beneficial trade agreement.

The ongoing dialogue reflects the dynamic nature of India-UK relations, encompassing not only economic considerations but also cultural exchanges and shared interests. The diplomatic discourse between Prime Minister Modi and Rishi Sunak highlights the importance of maintaining open channels of communication to foster understanding and collaboration between nations.

In conclusion, the celebration of Diwali at 10 Downing Street serves as a testament to the multicultural fabric of the United Kingdom and the inclusive leadership of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his tradition of honoring the sacrifices of India’s armed forces. He celebrated Diwali 2023 with soldiers. On a Sunday morning, he reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh for the festive occasion, emphasizing his commitment to expressing gratitude to the country’s brave security forces.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Modi shared the purpose of his visit, stating, “Reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Diwali with our brave security forces,” along with accompanying images capturing moments of the celebration. In these photos, the Prime Minister can be seen adorned in military attire, engaging with security personnel, and embodying the spirit of solidarity with the armed forces.

This marks the ninth consecutive Diwali that Prime Minister Modi has chosen to spend with the soldiers. Since assuming office in 2014, he has made it a tradition to visit military facilities during the festival, using the opportunity to interact with military personnel and partake in the festivities.

Also read : Ayodhya sets new gunnies world record amid Deepotsav 2023

The inaugural celebration in 2014 saw PM Modi commemorating Diwali with security forces stationed at the challenging heights of Siachen, highlighting his commitment to recognizing the dedication of soldiers serving in demanding and perilous conditions. Subsequent years witnessed him visiting memorials in Punjab, honoring the valor of the Indian Army during the 1965 war, and venturing to Himachal Pradesh near the China border in 2016, where he engaged with personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Dogra Scouts, and the army at Sumdoh.

In 2017, the Gurez sector in North Kashmir became the focal point for Diwali celebrations with soldiers. The following year, Uttarakhand’s Harsil received the Prime Minister’s surprise visit to troops. In 2019, he extended his Diwali wishes to soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, and in 2020, he stood at the border post of Longewala, showcasing his unwavering dedication to spending this auspicious festival with those safeguarding the nation.

Diwali, known as the ‘festival of lights,’ is traditionally observed on Amavasya, the 15th day of the month of Kartik. The festival symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, and it holds deep cultural and spiritual significance in the hearts of millions.

Prime Minister Modi’s consistent efforts to celebrate Diwali with soldiers reinforce the importance he places on recognizing and appreciating the sacrifices made by the armed forces. By personally engaging with the troops in different regions, he not only boosts morale but also sends a powerful message of solidarity and gratitude to those who dedicate their lives to safeguarding the nation.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s annual Diwali celebrations with the armed forces exemplify his commitment to acknowledging the sacrifices of the soldiers and expressing solidarity with those on the front lines. These visits, marked by personal interactions and festivities, underscore the importance of recognizing and honoring the dedication and courage of India’s armed forces.

As the much-anticipated festival of lights, Diwali, approaches, the air is filled with excitement and fervor across the country. Diwali is a celebration marked by vibrant lights adorning the streets, the donning of new attire, and the embellishment of homes with an array of colors and lights. The occasion is not merely a visual spectacle; it also carries a profound spiritual significance as people open their doors to welcome Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera, seeking prosperity and blessings into their homes.

The festivities commence with the observance of Dhanteras, a day dedicated to the worship of wealth and prosperity. On the eve of Diwali, Chhoti Diwali is traditionally celebrated, accompanied by the illumination of diyas and the exchange of sweets and good wishes. Interestingly, this year brings a unique alignment where Chhoti Diwali coincides with the main Diwali celebrations.

Following the grandeur of Diwali, the day after is marked by the observance of Govardhan Puja, which holds significant importance in Hindu traditions. This ritual pays homage to the lifting of the Govardhan Hill by Lord Krishna, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. Devotees express their reverence through various rituals and offerings.

Diwali, celebrated on November 12 this year, stands out as one of the most eagerly awaited festivals, uniting people across the country in joyous celebrations. Beyond the external manifestations of festivity, Diwali carries deep cultural and spiritual significance, fostering a sense of unity and shared blessings.

As the nation prepares to immerse itself in the brilliance of Diwali and the sanctity of Govardhan Puja, it is a time for reflection, gratitude, and the joyous embrace of traditions that have withstood the test of time. May the festival of lights illuminate our lives with joy, prosperity, and the warmth of shared celebrations.

The Supreme Court of India has recently implemented a sweeping nationwide ban on firecrackers, underlining that the previous directives pertaining to the prohibition of barium and other banned chemicals in firecrackers are not confined to Delhi-NCR but extend to all states. This clarification was articulated during a hearing centered around the issue of firecrackers in the state of Rajasthan.

The bench, comprising Justice A S Bopanna and Justice M M Sundresh, unequivocally stated that the orders issued during the course of hearing various petitions are binding on every state across the nation.

A key emphasis of the Supreme Court’s pronouncement was dispelling the misconception that environmental concerns solely fall within the court’s purview. The court adamantly declared that the responsibility for managing pollution lies with each and every citizen. It further stressed the imperative for citizens to ensure an environmentally conscious celebration of Diwali, urging a reduction in the use of firecrackers.

Also Read : Delhi pollution live update : AAP Govt holds meeting prior implementing odd- even scheme.

Looking back to the year 2021, the Supreme Court had issued directives aimed at curbing the use of banned chemicals in firecrackers in the lead-up to Diwali. Notably, the court clarified that the ban on firecrackers is not absolute and applies only to those containing barium salts. The usage of green crackers, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines from 2018, remains permissible.

During the recent hearing on November 7, 2023, the court made a noteworthy observation, pointing out that, in contemporary times, it is often the elders who indulge in bursting more firecrackers than children. This observation may serve as a call to rethink and reassess the traditional patterns of firecracker usage during festive occasions.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court directed the state of Rajasthan to take immediate and effective measures to control pollution in the city of Udaipur. This underscores the court’s commitment to not only setting guidelines but also ensuring their implementation at the regional level.

Recalling a prior instance on September 22, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking the authorization of the manufacture, sale, and use of firecrackers containing barium chemicals. This decision reflects the court’s unwavering stance against potentially harmful substances in firecrackers, aligning with its broader efforts to safeguard the environment and public health.

In conclusion, the recent actions and statements from the Supreme Court underscore a concerted effort to address the environmental impact of firecrackers on a national scale. The court’s comprehensive directives, observations, and calls for individual responsibility collectively contribute to a larger narrative of environmental consciousness and sustainable celebration during festivals.
