Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his tradition of honoring the sacrifices of India’s armed forces. He celebrated Diwali 2023 with soldiers. On a Sunday morning, he reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh for the festive occasion, emphasizing his commitment to expressing gratitude to the country’s brave security forces.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Modi shared the purpose of his visit, stating, “Reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Diwali with our brave security forces,” along with accompanying images capturing moments of the celebration. In these photos, the Prime Minister can be seen adorned in military attire, engaging with security personnel, and embodying the spirit of solidarity with the armed forces.

This marks the ninth consecutive Diwali that Prime Minister Modi has chosen to spend with the soldiers. Since assuming office in 2014, he has made it a tradition to visit military facilities during the festival, using the opportunity to interact with military personnel and partake in the festivities.

Also read : Ayodhya sets new gunnies world record amid Deepotsav 2023

The inaugural celebration in 2014 saw PM Modi commemorating Diwali with security forces stationed at the challenging heights of Siachen, highlighting his commitment to recognizing the dedication of soldiers serving in demanding and perilous conditions. Subsequent years witnessed him visiting memorials in Punjab, honoring the valor of the Indian Army during the 1965 war, and venturing to Himachal Pradesh near the China border in 2016, where he engaged with personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Dogra Scouts, and the army at Sumdoh.

In 2017, the Gurez sector in North Kashmir became the focal point for Diwali celebrations with soldiers. The following year, Uttarakhand’s Harsil received the Prime Minister’s surprise visit to troops. In 2019, he extended his Diwali wishes to soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, and in 2020, he stood at the border post of Longewala, showcasing his unwavering dedication to spending this auspicious festival with those safeguarding the nation.

Diwali, known as the ‘festival of lights,’ is traditionally observed on Amavasya, the 15th day of the month of Kartik. The festival symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, and it holds deep cultural and spiritual significance in the hearts of millions.

Prime Minister Modi’s consistent efforts to celebrate Diwali with soldiers reinforce the importance he places on recognizing and appreciating the sacrifices made by the armed forces. By personally engaging with the troops in different regions, he not only boosts morale but also sends a powerful message of solidarity and gratitude to those who dedicate their lives to safeguarding the nation.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s annual Diwali celebrations with the armed forces exemplify his commitment to acknowledging the sacrifices of the soldiers and expressing solidarity with those on the front lines. These visits, marked by personal interactions and festivities, underscore the importance of recognizing and honoring the dedication and courage of India’s armed forces.
