First of all you have to open the chat on WhatsApp. On the screen you have to click on your contact name. After that you scroll down and go to the following option. Here you will see the option of disappearing messages click on it. After this you can enable this setting by setting a time limit.

If you want to continue this feature for any future chats then you will see option of default message timer under Disappearing messages option in WhatsApp on phone you can continue default for all new chats by tapping this option.
