Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The 14-Year-Old Sensation Who Made History in the IPL with a Record-Breaking Century Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India – April 29, 2025 – On a night filled with remarkable IPL milestones, a 14-year-old emerged as the star at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the prodigious talent from Bihar, made history with an astonishing, record-setting century for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans.

In pursuit of a challenging target of 210, the Rajasthan Royals required a robust beginning, which was delivered by Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who established a dazzling 166-run opening partnership. Suryavanshi’s remarkable innings, however, was the highlight, as he achieved his first IPL century in just 35 balls, hitting seven fours and eleven massive sixes. This extraordinary accomplishment not only propelled his team to a convincing eight-wicket win but also broke multiple records in the process.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, born on March 27, 2011, has been a prominent figure in the cricketing world from an early age. His father noticed his enthusiasm for the sport when he was merely four years old. By the time he turned nine, he was refining his abilities at a cricket academy in Samastipur. His exceptional talent shone through during the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, which led to his selection for the Bihar Ranji Trophy team. He made his first-class debut against Mumbai in January 2024, becoming one of the youngest players in Indian domestic cricket history at just 12 years and 284 days old.

Suryavanshi’s exceptional skills were showcased when he played for India Under-19 against Australia Under-19, scoring a century off just 58 balls, the quickest by an Indian in that category. Acknowledging his remarkable talent, the Rajasthan Royals acquired him for a substantial ₹1.10 crore during the IPL 2025 auction, making him the youngest player ever signed in the league’s history.

His IPL debut came on April 19, 2025, against the Lucknow Super Giants, where he announced his arrival with a six on his very first ball and scored a promising 34 runs. However, it was his third match against the Gujarat Titans that truly catapulted him into stardom. His 35-ball century is now the fastest by an Indian in IPL history, surpassing Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball record from 2010.
