Each worker involved in the Silkyara Tunnel rescue operation was promised a cash incentive of Rs. 1 lakh. Additionally, the rescue workers who participated in the challenging operation inside the tunnel and contributed to the digging efforts were offered a reward of Rs. 50,000 by the state government. Furthermore, Dhami announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 for each rat-hole mining expert who played a crucial role in the rescue.

The rescued workers are to undergo thorough examinations at AIIMS, Rishikesh, including preliminary assessments in the trauma ward and detailed health examinations in the disaster ward. Mental health assessments are also planned to ensure comprehensive observation and care. The disaster ward, with a capacity of 100 beds, is well-equipped for the workers’ accommodation and medical needs.

Chief Minister Dhami expressed his joy over the successful evacuation, stating that his “Diwali” came as the workers were rescued. He emphasized the government’s commitment to rewarding both the trapped workers and the rescue team for their relentless efforts.

The workers were trapped following a partial collapse in the under-construction Silkyara Tunnel on the Char Dham route on November 12. The rescue operation faced challenges due to debris hindering advanced drilling techniques. Rat-hole miners and vertical drilling were ultimately deployed to clear the remaining debris and extract the trapped workers.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) played a crucial role in the rescue operation, ensuring the safe evacuation of the workers from the tunnel. In recognition of their efforts, Chief Minister Dhami announced financial incentives and rewards, underscoring the government’s appreciation for the dedication and bravery displayed during the rescue mission.
