In Austria, PM Modi was welcomed by Indian Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg. He later attended a dinner hosted by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, where discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
Chancellor Nehammer expressed pleasure in welcoming PM Modi, highlighting India and Austria’s longstanding friendship and partnership. PM Modi reciprocated by affirming mutual commitment to further collaboration for global welfare and prosperity.
PM Modi’s visit to Austria marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 41 years, emphasizing the significance of this diplomatic engagement. Earlier, PM Modi concluded productive discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing various bilateral issues, including the release of Indian nationals recruited into the Russian army.
