Gurucharan Singh, renowned for his role as Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has addressed his recent disappearance in April, emphasizing it was not a publicity stunt. Speaking to Bombay Times, he clarified that his absence was due to a spiritual journey and that he had no intention of returning. Only after a sign from God did he decide to come back home.
Dismissing claims of seeking publicity, Singh highlighted that if that were his aim, he could have easily spoken out about unpaid dues from the show or used social media for attention. He chose to speak now to clarify misconceptions circulating about him, having refrained from interviews even upon his return in May.
Singh’s disappearance prompted a search by Delhi Police when he failed to reach Mumbai on April 22. After 25 days, he returned home, explaining to authorities and the court about his unplanned spiritual retreat. His father’s concern had prompted the police operation, involving multiple teams to locate him.
The incident underscores Singh’s commitment to spirituality and his desire to set the record straight amidst speculation surrounding his absence.
