A 24-year-old woman was arrested in Vaishali district of Bihar for allegedly attacking a 22-year-old man, Dharmendra Kumar, with acid, causing severe burns to his face. The incident occurred in Simarwada village under the Patepur police station’s jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday. Dharmendra, a taxi driver, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hajipur.
The victim and the accused, Sarita Kumari, both neighbors, had been in a relationship for the past five months, according to Vaishali Superintendent of Police Ravi Ranjan Kumar. The attack took place after Dharmendra received a call around 2 am from Sarita, who wanted to meet him. After the meeting at her home, he was attacked with acid on his face by Sarita and an unidentified man, believed to be her acquaintance, who is currently at large.
Dharmendra, suffering from severe burns in his eyes and face, recorded his statement before the police in the hospital. Sarita was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. During interrogation, she confessed that Dharmendra did not want to marry her, and when his family arranged his marriage to another woman, she decided to disfigure his face.
