Lalit Salve’s Journey:
Lalit Salve, born in June 1988, initially joined the Maharashtra Police in 2010 and served at the Majalgaon city police station in Beed district. In 2013, he began experiencing transsexual gender symptoms, leading to his decision to undergo a genetic test called karyotyping in early 2017. The test confirmed the presence of the ‘Y’ chromosome, establishing his male gender identity.
Salve took a significant step in his journey when, in November 2017, he approached the Bombay High Court seeking a month’s leave for sex-reassignment surgery. The court granted his request, and between 2018 and 2020, Salve underwent three surgeries at the state-run St George Hospital in Mumbai’s Fort area.
In 2019, after completing all the surgeries, Lalit Salve married Seema on February 16. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Aarush, on January 15, 2024.
