The boat tragedy at Harni Lake in Vadodara has sent shockwaves through the community, claiming the lives of 12 students and two teachers during a school picnic. As investigations unfold, the Vadodara Police’s FIR has shed light on alleged negligence by Kotia Projects, the private firm managing the Lake Zone area. The FIR, naming 18 individuals as accused, outlines a series of lapses in safety protocols, raising questions about the adequacy of repair work, maintenance, and overall management of the recreational facility.
Negligence Revealed in FIR:
The FIR details critical lapses on the part of Kotia Projects, emphasizing their failure to conduct proper repair work and maintenance on the boat, which ultimately led to the tragic incident. Accused Individuals and Arrests:
Out of the 18 accused individuals mentioned in the FIR, six have been arrested by the Vadodara Police. Among them are three directors of Kotia Projects: Bhim Singh Yadav, aged 42, Ved Prakash Yadav, and Rashmikant Prajapati, aged 51. These individuals, identified as partners of the private firm, are facing charges related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder (IPC 304), attempt to commit homicide (IPC 308), and causing hurt by acts endangering the life or personal safety of others (IPC 337).
Earlier in the investigation, three individuals were arrested at the scene. Shantilal Solanki, the manager of Harni Lake Zone, and two boat operators, Nayan Gohil (20) and Ankit Vasava (19), were taken into custody. These arrests were made based on a complaint lodged by Rajesh Chauhan, executive engineer with Vadodara Municipal Corporation.
