India has begun its medal tally at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a bronze from Manu Bhaker in the women’s 10m Air Pistol event, placing the country 22nd in the standings. As the Games move into Day 3, Japan leads with a total of seven medals (four gold, two silver, and one bronze), including victories in Men’s Épée Fencing, Judo (both men and women), and women’s Street Skateboarding.

South Korea is tied with Japan at the top, also boasting seven medals, with a standout performance by 16-year-old Ban Hyojin, who secured a gold in the women’s 10m Air Rifle, equalling the Olympic record set by China at Tokyo 2020.

Australia is in third place with six medals (four gold and two silver), while the USA, leading in total medals with 12, has secured only three golds – one in fencing and two in swimming – along with six silvers and three bronzes.

What’s Ahead on Day 3

Day 3 of the Paris Olympics features 22 medal events. Notable highlights include Great Britain’s Tom Daley, who aims for a consecutive gold in the men’s synchronized 10m platform diving.

For India, Arjun Babuta will compete in the 10m Air Rifle men’s final, following Ramita Jindal’s 7th-place finish in the women’s 10m Air Rifle final. Additionally, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh will compete for bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event on Tuesday. Bhaker, already a historic bronze medalist in shooting, has a chance to make history as the first Indian athlete to win two medals at the same Olympics.

Stay tuned as the competition heats up and India aims to climb higher in the medal rankings!
