External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the economic, political, and cultural significance of ‘Bharat,’ emphasizing its embodiment in the concept of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.’ Speaking at the ‘Knowledge India Visitors Programme’ by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Jaishankar commended the initiative and acknowledged the diverse symbolism of ‘Bharat’ in various domains.

He emphasized that ‘Bharat’ represents resilience and self-sufficiency, economically expressed through ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.’ Developmentally, it signifies a commitment to an inclusive and fair society, and politically, it declares independence in India’s engagement with the world. Culturally, ‘Bharat’ encompasses languages, traditions, and heritage, projecting a global image as a ‘Vishwamitra’—a friend that steps up in crucial moments.

Reflecting on India’s global role, Jaishankar cited the success of India’s G20 presidency, showcasing the ability to bridge gaps in a divided world. He outlined India’s ambitious vision for the future, focusing on a 25-year plan called ‘Amrit Kaal’ to address historical challenges and secure a significant position in the international order.

Minister for Ports, Shipping Waterways, and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated the programme, emphasizing the global achievements of Ayush in promoting traditional medicine. MoS for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, highlighted the commonalities in global knowledge systems and the connectedness of humanity.

The ICCR-organized ‘Knowledge India Visitors Programme’ brought together over 80 academicians, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and elevating the standard of higher learning in Indian knowledge systems globally.
